Use cases EIR to BEP with AI

Use case - EIR to BEP with AI

Answer the client's EIR without writing the BEP from scratch

The EIR (exchange information requirements) is what the client asks for. The BEP (BIM execution plan) is your answer. In Plannerly you bring the EIR in, start the BEP from an ISO 19650 template, and AI drafts each answer from the requirement it responds to. You check it, assign it, agree it and sign it.

Free plan, no card. Task teams never pay to join your project.

The problem

Every BEP starts as a copy of the last one

Sound familiar?

The EIR arrives on Monday. The tender is due on Friday.

So last job's BEP gets copied, the project name gets swapped and half the answers belong to a different client. The assessor notices, and so does the team that has to deliver it. The four steps below put your week into checking answers, not typing them.

How it works

Stop copying last job's BEP: bring the EIR in, start from the template, draft each answer with AI, agree and sign

  1. Bring the EIR in

Import the client's EIR from Word, or use Import with AI for a PDF, Word or Excel file. It becomes editable sections in Docs, next to your BEP, and the requirements it finds can become checkable requirements.

The client's requirements next to your answers
  2. Start from the template

Open the ISO 19650 BEP template from the library, or let Start with AI draft an outline or a complete first version from the BEP's title and description. SmartFields fill in the project name, client and other facts.

    No blank page
  3. Draft each answer

Paste the requirement into a section's description and Write my section drafts the answer. It doesn't invent project facts: it marks what you need to confirm. Then Expand, Correct, Simplify or Summarize it.

A first draft of every answer
  4. Agree and sign

Assign each section to the team that answers it and settle questions in comments on the section itself. Then export the BEP to PDF or Word, with e-signatures if you need them.

A BEP every team agreed to

The client's EIR, in Docs

Each requirement becomes an editable section you can answer, discuss and track.

Surviving ISO 19650 Information Requirements with AI

Build it. Connect it. Just ask Javis. Most owners aren't sure what to ask for, and requirements copied from the last job create work nobody needs. Three ways into your project's information requirements - build on the Plannerly API, connect your own AI with Plannerly MCP, or just ask Javis - on one structure your supply chain can check against.

    Questions

Questions about answering an EIR with a BEP

What is the difference between an EIR and a BEP?
The EIR (exchange information requirements) is the client's list of the information it needs from the delivery team: what, when, and to what standard. The BEP (BIM execution plan) is the delivery team's answer: how it will produce, check and share that information. Under ISO 19650 the appointing party writes the EIR and the lead appointed party answers it with the BEP. The free EIR lesson and the BEP guide cover each one in detail.
Can AI write a BIM execution plan?
It can write the first draft, which is the slow part. In Plannerly, Start with AI drafts an outline or a complete first version from the BEP's title and description, and Write my section drafts one section from its heading and the requirement you put in its description. It's told not to invent project facts, so where one is missing it leaves a note for you to confirm. You still check every answer, because your team has to deliver what the BEP promises. See how the AI writing tools work and where AI helps most.
What should a BEP response to an EIR include?
Under ISO 19650-2, the pre-appointment BEP you send with the tender covers who will do the information management, your strategy for meeting the EIR, the federation strategy, a high-level responsibility matrix, any changes you propose to the project's information standard and production methods, and the software, hardware and IT you'll use. Once you're appointed it becomes the confirmed BEP. The free pre-appointment BEP lesson walks through each part, and the standard itself is on the ISO website.
Who writes the EIR, and who writes the BEP?
The appointing party, the client, writes the EIR and issues it with the invitation to tender. Each bidding team's lead, usually the main contractor or lead designer, answers it with a pre-appointment BEP. Once appointed, the lead appointed party confirms the BEP and writes EIRs of its own for the appointed parties it brings in. ISO 19650 roles, explained.
Can Plannerly read my EIR for me?
It can bring it in. Import a Word EIR into Docs, or use Import with AI for a PDF, Word or Excel file: it turns the content into editable sections, and the requirements it finds into structured information requirements, each linked back to where it was found. You review what it found before anything is created. Then you write your answers section by section, with Write my section doing the first draft. How to create a BEP in Plannerly.
Is there a free EIR or BEP template?
Yes. The BEP template opens in Plannerly with the ISO 19650 sections already in place, and the EIR to BEP Survival Kit on this page adds three free PDFs: the EIR explained, the tender response and the pre-appointment BEP. For EIR, OIR, AIR and PIR templates, see What is ISO 19650? and EIR, PIR and BEP templates.
Is my EIR used to train the AI?
No. Your files and documents stay under your team's control in Plannerly, and the AI providers Plannerly uses don't train their models on them or keep a memory of them. The AI drafts; your team decides what goes in the BEP. Read more about where AI helps, and where it doesn't.
How do I get the BEP agreed and signed?
Assign each section to the team or person who answers it, and settle questions in comments on the section itself. When it's ready, export the BEP to PDF or Word and add approvers: requesting a signature keeps a copy in the Contracts tab with its signatures. Free includes two e-signatures, and Pro makes them unlimited. How export and approvals work.
Can I reuse my company's BEP on every project?
Yes. Save your BEP as a template with SmartFields for the project name, client and other facts, then import it into each new project from the template library: the SmartFields fill in for that project. See how SmartFields work and importing documents from templates.
Do I need a paid plan to use AI in Docs?
No. On Free you can write your BEP in Docs on up to five projects, try the AI writing tools within the Free plan's limits, and invite people to view it. Pro adds more AI, unlimited editors and viewers, SmartFields, Word export, unlimited e-signatures and your own branding on exports.
