AI in construction management

Run the project, and let AI help with the paperwork

Most of an information manager's week goes on writing plans nobody reads, retyping requirements and chasing who owns what. In Plannerly the documents start from templates, the requirements come in from your spreadsheets (AI can draft and read them), and automation checks the models and sends the reminders.

How to survive as a BIM Manager

Surviving ISO 19650 Information Requirements with AI

Build it. Connect it. Just ask Javis. Most owners aren't sure what to ask for, and requirements copied from the last job create work nobody needs. Three ways into your project's information requirements - build on the Plannerly API, connect your own AI with Plannerly MCP, or just ask Javis - on one structure your supply chain can check against.

Frequently asked

Questions people ask about AI in construction management

What is AI in construction management?
It's software that takes on the reading and writing that fill a project manager's or information manager's week: drafting plans and documents, and pulling requirements out of spreadsheets. Its partner is automation, which checks models against what was asked for and keeps track of who owns what. The judgement - what the project needs and who agrees to it - stays with you. See the AI writing tools for BIM documents.
Will AI replace BIM managers or information managers?
No. It replaces the copy-and-paste parts of the job. Someone still has to decide what information the project needs, agree it with every team and stand behind it at an audit. AI gives you a first draft; you make the calls. Here's why projects still need a BIM manager.
Where should I start?
With the job that eats the most hours. For most teams that's the BEP or the information requirements. Start free, open the ISO 19650 BEP template and let AI draft the first version - then compare it with the last one you wrote by hand. The free lesson Using AI to create documents shows how.
Does it follow ISO 19650?
Yes. The templates, the plan structure and the checks are built around ISO 19650, so what AI drafts lands in the right place: appointing party requirements, the BEP, the MIDP and TIDPs, and the checks on every information exchange. New to the standard? Read what ISO 19650 is, or the standard itself, ISO 19650-2.
Does AI check the models?
No, and you wouldn't want it to guess. Model checking in Plannerly is rule-based: every linked model version is checked automatically against the requirements you set, and the charts update by themselves. You can also export the requirements as an IDS file for other checkers. Clash detection isn't part of Verify yet, so keep your coordination tool for that. See how model checking with IDS works.
Is automation the same as AI?
Not quite. Automation runs the rules you set - check this property on every model, remind this team before this date. AI helps write and read - drafting a section, reading a spreadsheet. Good construction management uses both: AI to get to a first draft fast, automation to make sure it's followed. More on automation in construction management.
