Surviving ISO 19650 Information Requirements with AI

Build it. Connect it. Just ask Javis. Most owners aren't sure what to ask for, and requirements copied from the last job create work nobody needs. Three ways into your project's information requirements - build on the Plannerly API, connect your own AI with Plannerly MCP, or just ask Javis - on one structure your supply chain can check against.

Questions

BIM and ISO 19650 use cases, answered

What are BIM use cases?
BIM uses, or use cases, are the purposes a model and its information serve on a project: design authoring, coordination, quantity take-off, 4D planning, asset handover and so on. Each one decides what information is needed, by whom and when. The use cases on this page are the information management jobs that make those uses work: planning delivery, agreeing responsibilities, checking models and handing over. What is a BIM project?
How do BIM uses relate to ISO 19650?
ISO 19650 doesn't prescribe a list of BIM uses. It asks the appointing party to set out what information it needs, and why, in its information requirements (OIR, AIR, PIR and EIR), and many clients express those purposes as BIM uses. The delivery team then plans how to meet them in the BEP and MIDP. So BIM uses usually live in the information requirements. ISO 19650 explained, and the UK BIM Framework guidance on developing information requirements.
Which use case should I start with?
The one that's costing you time this week. If task teams don't know what to deliver, start with the MIDP. If nobody is sure who's accountable, the RACI. If models arrive without the data you asked for, model checking with IDS. Each use case links to the next, so you can work through them in order.
Do I need all three modules?
No. Each use case leads with one module - Docs for documents like the BEP, Scope for delivery planning, Verify for model checking - and Pro is priced on the modules you choose. The Free plan lets you explore all three on up to five projects. Compare plans.
Are the kits and templates free?
Yes. Each kit's PDFs download free, and you can start free with no card. Some steps, such as e-signatures, more editors or connecting a CDE, are Pro features you can try free for 14 days. Every template.
What is How to survive as a BIM Manager?
Our free live webinar series on Zoom, every other week. Each 45-minute episode builds one of these jobs live in Plannerly, and the replay, chapters and survival kit land on its use case page afterwards. One sign-up covers the whole season. See the episodes.
Where can I learn ISO 19650 first?
Plannerly's training is free, with a certificate for every course, from Level 1 BIM Management Basics to Level 3 ISO 19650 Expert. 16,600+ learners have taken the courses, rated 4.9 out of 5 from thousands of ratings, and each use case links the lesson for its steps. Start the free training.
