Level 1 Information Manager – Basics

This video shows how to connect Autodesk Construction Cloud models to the Verify module for synchronized model checking. The written guide below explains how to install the Plannerly add-on in ACC, authorize the connection, access your hubs and projects, and bring models into a structured verification workflow.

Synchronize ACC models for structured BIM verification

Teams using Autodesk Construction Cloud as their common data environment need a way to check those models against project requirements without downloading files and uploading them manually every time a new version is published. The Verify module in Plannerly connects directly to ACC, so models are loaded into the browser, indexed for property checking, and automatically synchronized whenever new versions appear.

The connection starts with installing the Plannerly add-on in your Autodesk Construction Cloud account. Search for it in the ACC apps section, click install, and authorize the connection. Once installed, logging into Plannerly with your ACC credentials gives you access to all the hubs and projects you have permission to see. You navigate to the project you want, select the folder containing your models, and hit connect. The model loads into the browser-based 3D viewer and the indexing process begins, preparing all properties for checking against your scope requirements.

Every version of a connected model is synchronized automatically. When a team member publishes a new version in ACC, it appears in Plannerly without any manual intervention. This means the checking workflow always runs against the latest content, and you can review the history of how a model has changed over time. The automatic synchronization removes one of the biggest bottlenecks in traditional model checking workflows: the manual effort of exporting, uploading, and tracking which version is current.

ACC is not the only route for bringing models into Verify. The File Manager can also be used to connect models that are already stored in Plannerly, and synchronized folders from other CDEs feed into File Manager as well. This means teams using different data environments can still have their models checked inside Verify. Each model has its own model rules, and each task has its own task rules, so the connection between model elements and scope requirements works regardless of where the model originally came from. The integrations are designed to fit into your existing tool ecosystem rather than replace it.

How to connect ACC models to the Verify module

  1. Install the Plannerly add-on – Go to the apps section in Autodesk Construction Cloud, search for the Plannerly add-on, and click install.
  2. Authorize the connection – Complete the authorization process to allow Plannerly to access your ACC hubs and projects.
  3. Log in with your ACC account – In Plannerly, use your Autodesk credentials to access the connection and see your available hubs.
  4. Select your project and folder – Navigate to the project containing the models you want to check and select the folder to connect.
  5. Connect the model – Hit connect to load the model into the browser-based viewer and start the indexing process.
  6. Wait for indexing – The model is processed for lightweight viewing and all properties are indexed for checking. You can work in other modules while this runs.
  7. Verify automatic synchronization – Confirm that new versions published in ACC appear automatically in Plannerly without manual re-upload.
  8. Set up model and task rules – Define the rules that connect model elements to scope tasks for automated requirement checking.

What you’ll learn

  • ACC add-on installation – How to find, install, and authorize the Plannerly add-on in Autodesk Construction Cloud.
  • Hub and project access – How to navigate your ACC hubs and projects from within Plannerly to find the right models.
  • Automatic version sync – How connected models stay up to date automatically as new versions are published in ACC.
  • File Manager as an alternative – How models stored in File Manager or synchronized from other CDEs can also be connected to Verify.
  • Model and task rules – How each model and each task has its own connection rules that link elements to scope requirements for checking.

Common questions

What if I cannot see my ACC hubs after connecting?

This usually means the authorization did not complete correctly or your ACC permissions do not include the projects you are looking for. The troubleshooting guide for ACC hub access covers common issues and their solutions, including re-authorizing the connection and checking your ACC permission levels.

Can I connect models from CDEs other than Autodesk Construction Cloud?

Yes. Files from other CDEs can be synchronized into File Manager and then connected to Verify from there. This means teams using SharePoint, Aconex, or other platforms can still bring their models into the checking workflow. Plannerly is designed to work alongside your existing CDE infrastructure rather than replace it.

Do model versions sync automatically or do I need to re-upload?

Once an ACC folder is connected, every new version of a model in that folder is synchronized automatically. There is no need to re-upload or manually trigger a sync. This keeps Verify checking against the latest content and ensures that quality assurance checks always reflect the current state of the model.

How do model rules and task rules work with connected models?

Each connected model has model rules that define how its elements are matched to tasks across the board. Each task can also have its own task rules for more specific connections. These rules work the same way regardless of whether the model came from ACC, File Manager, or a direct upload. The parameter linking guide explains how to troubleshoot when rules do not connect as expected.
