SmartFields: write it once, use it everywhere

What you'll do

  1. Select the client's name in a section and choose Insert SmartField, then Client Name.
  2. Accept Replace the other matches too? for all documents in the project.
  3. Open SmartFields and use Auto-create SmartFields to find the location, completion date and other repeated details.
  4. When something changes, click the SmartField anywhere, type the new value and save.

Why it matters

Find and replace always misses something. A SmartField keeps one agreed value in one place, so your contract documents always agree, however late the change comes.

Common questions

Do exports I already made change?

No. An export keeps the value it was created with. Create a new version to pick up the change.

Who can change a SmartField?

People whose project role has Manage SmartFields switched on.
