Drag in the sections you need - the numbering looks after itself

What you'll do

  1. Open the Library in Docs and type in Search all libraries, for example "security".
  2. Drag the section into place.
  3. Drag it a little to the right to tuck it under the section above.
  4. Check the numbers below it have updated themselves.
  5. For an appendix, click its number and choose Toggle Number Off.

Why it matters

A structure that keeps itself in order is one less thing to check before issue. Clause numbers you can trust make reviews and references easier.

Common questions

Can I turn numbering off for an appendix?

Yes. Click the number and choose Toggle Number Off. The section has to be In Progress, because numbering locks once it is Shared or Published.

Why won't my section drag in?

Library sections are switched off while you are editing a section, and when Docs filters are on. Save and close the section and clear the filters.
